• Achieves a 5-stop image stabilization effect, equivalent to shutter speed, through the adoption of a newly developed high-speed CPU and high-performance gyro, along with algorithm improvements.
• Newly equipped with "IS Mode 3," which was not available on previous models. Image stabilization operates only during exposure, without activating when the shutter button is half-pressed.
• Features an optical system composed of 20 elements in 15 groups, including one fluorite lens and two UD lenses, which possess excellent optical characteristics capable of suppressing chromatic aberration to an extreme minimum.
• By optimizing lens arrangement and shape, the minimum focusing distance has been shortened from 1.2m on previous models to 1.0m. A maximum magnification of 0.27x is achieved. Despite being a telephoto zoom lens, it allows users to get closer to the subject for more impactful close-up shots.
• Further suppression of flare and ghosting is achieved through optimized coating.
• A circular aperture with 9 blades creates a bokeh shape that is close to circular.
• Newly adopts fluorine coating on the frontmost and rearmost lens surfaces, which repels oil and water droplets. Oil and other substances adhering to the lens can be easily removed with a dry cloth without the need for solvents.
• High durability and resistance to vibration and shock are achieved by reviewing the internal mechanical structure of the lens barrel.
• Features a dust and moisture resistant structure for the mount, switch panel, focus ring, and zoom ring. *While designed with dust and moisture resistance in mind, it cannot completely prevent the ingress of sand, dust, or water droplets.
• High-speed autofocus is realized through the adoption of Ring USM drive and a high-speed CPU, in addition to AF algorithm optimization.
• Equipped with a full-time manual focus mechanism that allows for fine manual focus adjustment after autofocus.
