• Leverages the RF mount's large aperture and short back focus to position a large-aperture lens close to the camera's image sensor. It also employs a zoom type with a variable overall length and effectively places two aspherical lenses, reducing the number of lens elements used. This results in the world's shortest and lightest lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras with a focal length of 70-200mm and a maximum aperture of F2.8.
• The high degree of design freedom afforded by the RF mount's large aperture and short back focus allows for both high image quality and a compact size. By placing a large-aperture lens close to the image sensor, high image quality is achieved across the entire 70-200mm zoom range, from the center to the periphery of the image.
• Canon's first adoption of electronic floating focus control, which individually drives and optimally controls two lens groups—the focus lens group and the floating lens group—using two ultrasonic motors (Nano USM). This improves image quality during close-up shooting, reduces the minimum focusing distance across the entire zoom range from 1.2m (for the EF70-200mm F2.8L IS III USM) to 0.7m, and enables high-speed AF for still photography and smooth AF for video recording.
• Equipped with the latest microprocessor for improved lens control accuracy and "Dual Sensing IS," which precisely reduces blur in coordination with the camera, providing a high image stabilization effect equivalent to 5 stops of shutter speed. Furthermore, during video recording, "Combination IS" works in conjunction with the camera to reduce camera shake.
• Features a dust and moisture resistant construction at the mount, control ring, and focus ring, along with a fluorine coating on the front and rear lens elements that repels oil and water.
