Product Features
- A new AF system, "Dual Pixel Intelligent AF," which combines a new engine system "Accelerated Capture" that realizes high-speed analysis and high-speed shooting with deep learning technology, achieves excellent tracking performance.
- Enhanced tracking performance to keep up with subjects in scenes with frequent subject crossing, such as team sports, "Upper Body Detection" that can detect people even when they are small, and "Obstacle Avoidance by Head Area Estimation" that distinguishes the subject's head from obstacles when obstacles cross in front of the subject, enabling highly accurate tracking.
- The "Registered Person Priority" function, which registers the desired subject in advance and continuously tracks it with priority, has improved detection performance compared to the "EOS R3" (released November 2021) when the face is turned diagonally.
- Achieves a maximum of approximately 30 frames/second while tracking AF/AE with the electronic shutter, and intermediate frame rates such as 20 frames/second and 10 frames/second can be set.
- Rolling shutter distortion with the electronic shutter is reduced to approximately 40% compared to the "EOS R5," allowing shooting with less distortion even with fast-moving subjects.
- Equipped with Eye Control AF, which allows AF operation with the movement of the pupil looking into the viewfinder, and improves responsiveness by approximately doubling the detection frame rate compared to the "EOS R3."
- Equipped with the "Pre-Continuous Shooting" function, which allows shooting up to approximately 15 frames before the shutter button is pressed, and can be recorded in JPEG/RAW/HEIF without切り出し (cutting out) work.
- Achieves high-quality still image shooting while balancing high resolution of approximately 45 million pixels and high sensitivity of ISO 51200 (for still image shooting).
- Equipped with an in-body 5-axis image stabilization mechanism. It also supports coordinated control with RF lenses equipped with an in-lens optical image stabilization mechanism, providing a maximum of 8.5 stops of correction in the center and up to 7.5 stops at the periphery. Furthermore, it supports peripheral coordinated control that suppresses blur in the screen periphery unique to wide-angle lenses.
- Equipped with the "Neural Network Noise Reduction" function, which processes still images shot in RAW within the camera to reduce noise and generate high-quality images within the camera.
- Achieves internal recording of 8K/60P RAW video, 4K/60P SRAW video, and 4K/120P MP4 video in full-frame angle of view.
- Supports still image recording during video shooting, enabling continuous shooting at a maximum of approximately 7.5 frames/second without stopping video shooting, contributing to improved operational efficiency such as simplification of equipment.
- Large-capacity editing data and lightweight Proxy videos can be recorded simultaneously on CFexpress cards and SD cards.
- By adopting the same file system XF-HEVC S/XF-AVC S as the digital cinema camera "EOS C400" (scheduled for release in September 2024), the workflow is unified and editing work is made more efficient.
- By attaching the new cooling fan CF-R20E (sold separately), the internal temperature rise is suppressed, extending the video recording time, and achieving over 120 minutes of video recording at 8K/30P.
- Equipped with a high-definition electronic viewfinder with a 0.5-inch, approximately 5.76 million dot high-definition panel, with approximately double the brightness compared to the "EOS R5," providing a comfortable viewing experience.
- Achieves dust and moisture resistance equivalent to the "EOS R5" and high rigidity by adopting a magnesium alloy exterior.
- Compatible with the IEEE802.11ax standard for the first time in the EOS series, enabling high-speed wireless communication and allowing the use of a wider frequency band by supporting 6GHz (infrastructure mode only).
- By attaching the new "Battery Grip BG-R20EP" (sold separately) and "Cooling Fan CF-R20EP" (sold separately), it supports the high-speed wired LAN standard 2.5GBase-T, allowing stable transmission of large-capacity still images and videos.
- The new application "Content Transfer Professional" (paid) allows files to be received from the camera body via a 5G/LTE-compatible smartphone and sent to an FTP server, and tagging can be done on the smartphone.
