Optical System

Utilizing a hybrid aspherical lens and ghostless coating, along with a large petal-type hood, this lens effectively eliminates coma aberration and flare in the peripheral areas, which are common issues with large-aperture wide-angle lenses. It achieves sharp, high-contrast images at all shooting distances and across the entire frame. Rich tonal gradation and deep color reproduction are also appealing features. The included hood features a convenient window for operating a circular polarizing filter.

Sharp and Clear Image Quality

For 35mm AF SLR cameras, this is the first 35mm F2 lens to employ an aspherical lens. This results in excellent correction of various aberrations, delivering high-contrast, sharp image quality from minimum focus to infinity. It's a high-performance lens that exhibits high resolution even at the periphery when the aperture is wide open. Furthermore, the ghostless coating ensures clear images with minimal ghosting and flare, even when shooting against the light within the frame. It also enables close-up photography down to 30cm.

PL Filter Operation with Hood Attached

A large, petal-type hood is adopted to effectively cut incident light that is detrimental to image quality. Moreover, it is equipped with a PL filter operation window, allowing for the manipulation of a PL filter even with the hood attached.
